 CHARLOTTE'S WEB

Director's Note

What an amazing journey it has been returning to SCA and putting together my first show. While many things have changed something that has remained is the passion of the arts and the support of the families involved. I want to say a quick thank you to Jen Okland and Pam Cappelletti. You two have been such an amazing team for me. There have been many other parents that have really stepped up and done helpful things for us with this production and I am so very thankful. I had a huge vision for this show and never once did you make me feel like I was crazy. I truly would not have survived this project without you all.

I would like to say a special thanks to Marty Ellertson for donating so much of your time and skill to this project. I am extremely grateful and will never forget what you have done for me, my family, and this production. Also I would also like to thank my dad for all that you do. I know whatever project I am doing you will always be there ready to help in anyway; that security and help is indescribable.  Additionally, I would like thank my husband for standing by me, always pushing me to be better, and for your countless late nights here at the theater making this production happen. You are my hero.

I want to thank all the kids for being flexible and willing to try new things. I know sometimes it can be scary having a new director and learning new ways of doing things, but these kids have been awesome. They have worked hard and because of that hard work and drive, they have created something really beautiful. Each day you all pressed on with me and continued to raise the bar. Some of the moments we have created on stage are a directors dream. Thank you for your hard work and dedication.

Why Charlotte’s Web?
Charlotte’s Web is a classic book and movie that many generations have loved. I felt it was a great time to bring this story more present in our lives and let the kids bring this classic book to life. Charlotte’s Web is a story about friendship, adversity, loyalty, and loss. These are all really important concepts for young people to grasp, not just for understanding purposes but to start to create a place of empathy within themselves. These are universal ideas that can help make connections from human to human. This story is not only a good learning experience for the kids but it is a great reminder for adults as well.
