    Jessica Van Voorst

    Choreographer

    Jessica Van Voorst (JJ) started dancing at age 3. Jessica knew from a young age that she wanted to teach dance, so she started assisting her first dance class at age 13. Competition was a big part of her life as she competed in both dance and Pinckney Varsity Pom. Jessica went off to Hope college to study dance, including the art of African dancing. Jessica graduated from Hope College with a Bachelor's degree in Dance Education and Physical Education for grades K-12. While in college, Jessica was featured in People Magazine for being a member of the All For One dance group and received the Choreography Award. After college, she toured the country with Veggie Tales Live as a professional dancer and puppeteer, starring as Bob the Tomato. Jessica started teaching at the Academy of Dance in Brighton in 2010 and choreographing for BHDC in 2011.  JJ is very excited to help put together one of her favorite musicals of all time!

    Hair/Makeup Lead

    Kate is a senior at BHS and this will be her 5th time participating in a school musical. Kate was involved with previous show's at BHS, including White Christmas, HoneyMoon in Vegas and Pippin, as well as the upcoming show Newises. Kate has also been a part of the BHS plays including The Crucible, Ugly Sweaters and The Dining Room and the upcoming play Robin Hood. Kate is involved in the BHS Marching Band, as well as Wind Ensemble. Kate is very excited to be the lead for the Hair/Makeup team for The Lion King Jr. Kate would like to give out a very special thank you to her friends and family, especially her Mom and Dad. Kate would also like to give a huge thank you to her boss Shi Lessner!
