Robert Martin
as John Smith
Robert Martin (John Smith)
Robert is exuberated to make his StageDoor debut as John Smith. You may think you recognize him as your tall acquaintance, but he isn’t. He also probably doesn’t know your tall friend but you can ask him after the show.
Robert is eager to take the stage again for the first time since high school and is humbled to be among such a talented cast and crew. Robert also played the bassoon in high school but has no desire to resurrect that talent. He resides in the suburbs with his tall wife and three children who tolerate his constant movie-quoting and gas.

Yashila Permeswaran
as Mary Smith
This is Yashila's third production with Sharkbox Theatre, following her roles as Suzanne in Don't Dress for Dinner and Cassie in Rumors. She has loved acting since she was a baby, attending speech contests with her mom, who was a coach. Yashila was very involved in acting throughout school, earning the most all-state nominations in her high school’s history and winning the Iowa High School Speech Association Hall of Fame Scholarship. Some of her favorite past roles include Baroness Elsa Schraeder in The Sound of Music, Minnie Floss in Black Hearts and Bearded Ladies, and Manny in a gender-swapped version of Soap Opera by David Ives. When she's not on stage or working as a software engineer at the non-profit Plentiful, Yashila enjoys staying active outdoors, getting creative with crafts, music, and dancing, and traveling around the country and world. She is deeply grateful for the continued love and support from her friends and family.
