The 39 Steps - January 16 - January 25, 2014

Sidecar Theatre Co.

 End Notes

Welcome to the very first show of our very first season!  Sidecar Theatre Co. is thrilled to bring this award winning show to the Lubbock audience.  "The 39 Steps" is based on Alfred Hitchcock's movie of the same name, and follows the story of the movie very closely.  Just swap the high drama of the original with some fresh and modern comedy, throw in a little inventive staging, keep all of that spine-tingling Hitchcock suspense, and you've got this remarkable adaptation by Patrick Barlow.  You can be certain that you'll have a great time laughing at all of these ridiculous characters, while still remembering Hitchcock fondly.

I think that you'll love this production, and the performers in it.  Sidecar Theatre Co. prides itself on finding the best and brightest local talent.  These performers are the cream of the Lubbock crop, and we hope to work with them again and again.

The rest of this season will transport you from old Broadway all the way to the magical land of Oz!

Look for our first children's theatre production "Go, Dog. Go!" at the 2014 Lubbock Arts Festival.  Great for even our youngest patrons and based on the P.D. Eastman's classic children's book, "Go, Dog. Go!" is the most fun you and your child can have at the theatre.

Our next show here at the Firehouse will hit the boards in May.  Get prepared to laugh your socks off at the hilarious Mel Brooks comedy "The Producers" directed by Lubbock legend, Richard Privitt.  Join Bialystock and Bloom as they swindle, cheat and steal their way to the top of the New York City theatre scene.  A plethora of outrageous characters rounds out the cast in this insanely funny musical romp.

We continue our season with William Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream," the return of our very first show "The Civil War" and then our holiday selection, "The Wizard of Oz" based on the original MGM film script.

It is our hope that you will join our company over and over again, whether it's in the audience, on stage or as a show sponsor.  No matter how you choose to support us, Sidecar Theatre Co. is committed to bringing you the best theatre Lubbock has to offer in the comfortable environment of the Firehouse Theatre.
