Dear Edwina JR. - March 26

Solvay MIddle School

  Director's Notes

Typically the director's notes are not a list of thank yous but grace and gratitude have become more important now more than ever and without them, this show would not have been possible. We chose this show, knowing that while still in midst of the pandemic its format gave our cast the best chance at a successful production given the time, social distance, and performance constraints.

Our sincere thanks to the following people who came together to produce this musical during this most unusual time in our lives:

*Our cast, which has been with us through the great disappointment of last year's season, as well as the tremendous changes of this year. Their resilience and dedication is humbling. They trusted Ms. Fitt and I when we said we didn't know how this was going to work, but we would make it work for them. It has been an honor and a privilege to work with them

*Their parents and families, who trusted Ms. Fitt and I to keep their children safe and let them have fun creating musical theater.

*Our production team, who took on jobs way outside of the box of what they are typically asked to do. We all learned new skills and technologies to create a traditional musical, social distance style.

*The Solvay Music Boosters and SHS Drama Department for their financial support. After the abrupt end to last year’s musical season, we would have not been able to produce this show without their help.

*Our building administrators, Corey Graves and Neil Gottlieb and the Board of Education for their guidance and support. You were behind us every step of the way and we can not thank you enough.

It is hard to forget the loss we all felt at this time last year when we left Honk Jr. on stage, unseen by an audience. But today the feeling that rises above that loss, is one of thanks. We truly hope that above all, you see joy in this year’s presentation of Dear Edwina, Online Edition.
