On behalf of the City of Vaughan and Members of Council, I am pleased to extend greetings to everyone attending Freaky Friday at York Catholic District School Board’s Centre for the Arts.
I want to congratulate everyone at St. Elizabeth Catholic High School who brought this show to life – there are no small parts in a production like this one. Whether you are singing a solo, designing the lighting, painting a set, or serving as an understudy, there is no show without all of you!
The arts move us and thrill us; they boost our spirit and bring us closer, not just to each other, but to ourselves as well. The arts nourish our collective soul, which sets our community up for success.
The City is committed to ensuring local talent has opportunities to thrive and develop their skills close to home. That’s why I was thrilled to announce recently that we have plans to build a performing and cultural arts centre right here in the city of Vaughan! This stunning and iconic venue will take centre stage in the heart of the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, our city’s downtown core.
I am certain we will see some of these incredible performers open the curtain there in the not-too-distant future.
Thank you all for coming tonight and supporting the soul of our city – and now, everyone should take their places, because it’s on with the show!
Sincerely,
Steven Del Duca
Mayor
