FROM THE DIRECTOR

Welcome to the 2nd annual production of Jesus Christ Superstar! I am so very excited to have the opportunity to direct this show again. It was always a dream of mine and the chance to do it twice is amazing. We have been incredibly fortunate to have a large majority of our 2013 cast return. There is an incredible opportunity to improve and build upon what we had before and the cast has worked tirelessly to bring a whole new light to this story.

I never knew coming into this production again, how difficult it would be to create an entirely new concept for something I’ve so recently done. What we did last year was exactly what I wanted for the show. It was beautiful and touching and the actors did an incredible job telling that story. However, we wanted to make sure that the audience wasn’t going to get the same story this time around.

We wanted to show them a different side of it. One with more edge, more strength, more flash, definitely more exciting. Coming back to this production and trying to change it all in my head was harder than I had imagined. I wouldn’t have been able to do that without brand new eyes to the story, new actors, and new creative team members. They have been invaluable during this run.

What has always amazed and fascinated me was Community Theater. The coming together of talented people not for money or ambition but simply for passion. I will always be a believer that professionals are not the only ones who can achieve professional caliber. There’s nothing stopping us from giving a performance of a lifetime. The most impressive aspect of this is that we all work 9-to-5 jobs on top of it but we do this every night because we love it.

We are so very pleased to be able to tell you all this story again. Not long after this production has ended, we will say goodbye to some of our JCS family. Some are headed off to New York to pursuit their dreams, others are heading to out-of-state colleges.

So, this will be our last chance to perform together.  I hope you all enjoy this story as much as we love to tell it. This show will be in our hearts forever and I hope that it touches yours.

Enjoy the show!
