Welcome to Today’s Performance,
As we enter the second half of this incredible theatrical season with Tigerton Drama, I am overwhelmed with gratitude and excitement for the journey that has brought us here. Tonight’s performance of The Drowsy Chaperone is a celebration of artistic growth, creativity, and collaboration. This production is unlike any we’ve undertaken before, and I am thrilled to share it with you.
The Drowsy Chaperone marks our second full-length musical, and it has brought with it new and exciting challenges for our students. Chief among these is the role of the Man in the Chair, a character that demands not only impeccable comedic timing but also the ability to engage and captivate the audience with heartfelt storytelling. This is truly one of the most demanding roles we’ve ever entrusted to a student, and I cannot wait for you to experience the talent and dedication that bring this character to life.
In addition to the immense acting challenges, this production has required significant technical achievements. Our set crew, led by senior and International Honor Thespian James Schulz, designed and built the largest set in Tigerton Drama’s history. Featuring a stunning 20-foot solid wall with a functioning door, flanked by two additional 4-foot walls, this massive set is a testament to the creativity and hard work of our students. James’s design was expertly brought to life by our set crew under the guidance of Mr. Samuel Slezewski. Their efforts have created a visual centerpiece that perfectly complements the vibrant world of The Drowsy Chaperone.
This season has already been one to remember. We began with three sold-out performances of Finding Nemo, Jr., followed by the success of our Thespian Troupe 10316 Christmas One-Act Productions, featuring Polar Twilight by Hillary DePiano and Grandma Remembers Something by Don Zolidis. Looking ahead, we are thrilled to present the world premiere of The Month-O-Logues by Hillary DePiano this coming May—a true milestone for our program.
I’d also like to take a moment to celebrate the addition of our new assistant director, Samantha Suehring. Her energy, creativity, and vision have strengthened our directing team and pushed us to new heights this year. Together, we remain committed to bringing exceptional theatrical experiences to Tigerton and nurturing the talents of our students.
Lastly, I want to express my deepest gratitude to our families, friends, and community members. Your support and enthusiasm fuel the passion and drive that make productions like this possible. From attending performances to encouraging your students to follow their theatrical dreams, you are an integral part of our success.
So sit back, relax, and let us transport you into the whimsical, hilarious, and heartwarming world of The Drowsy Chaperone. I hope you leave tonight with a smile on your face, a song in your heart, and a renewed appreciation for the magic of live theater.
Break a leg, cast and crew!
With gratitude,
Mr. Andrew Rewerts
Director of Tigerton Drama and the Tigerton Performing Arts Center
