Notes from the Diretor
When you start with a vision for something, you imagine the pieces fitting neatly into place. But sometimes, the pieces fall apart and in that breaking, a new way is made. I have learned to craft the story one barren stage, one missing wall at a time, remembering that the only true canvas I need is my imagination.
Directing for me, is like gardening. You plant seeds with faith, nurture them with patience, prune the improper thoughts and actions, and watch beauty bloom in its own season. What an honor it has been to lead this group of artists to places they never imagined they could go and in the process, discover new truths about myself as well.
As you watch the story, I invite you to look deeper. You may not see much when you first glance at this stage, but ask yourself: Where do these stairs symbolically lead to in my own life? What walls keep me from the freedom of experiencing an unblocked clarity due to generational curses? What message is carried in this movement that might also live in yours? I invite you to build out your own set and place the characters of your story where they can best shine, then take a bow.
