A Letter from the Director
This is a magnificently told story about a part of Chicago history that should never be forgotten. If you go online you can see underwater pictures of a schooner that sank in 1912, the Rouse Simmons, with a loss of 16 lives. Believe it or not, I am not from around these parts! But even I can appreciate the heroism and loyalty that drove the people to complete jobs that today not many would even consider doing.
When we put this show together in 2015, I knew it was going to be good. I just didn't realize how good it would turn out! the audience wowed the show. The theater was full. People were saying "You should make this a yearly event!". So here we are! The same songs. The same story. The same smiles. The same tears. But a completely different take on the production. I love the music (so does my 10 year old, who goes around the house singing the songs to the show!).
A great thanks to the cast. It has not been easy. This time of the year is very difficult for us all with Thanksgiving and the holidays taking a lot of our time and energy. But they put their backs to the wind and dragged as much as they could out of the already wonderful script.
Thanks to our small pit. They are heroes in their own right. This music is not easy, even though they make it seem that way.
Also to our tech crew. The show doesn't exist without them!
So enjoy it! I know I will. I have laughed and cried at every rehearsal!
Thank you for coming and Happy Holidays!
