  • Hannah Garnier

    Director

    Hannah Garnier is delighted to be directing Fiddler on the Roof as her first production. She is the K-12 Art teacher and high school Drama teacher at Washtenaw Christian Academy. She has been teaching at WCA for 2 years. She received her degree in Elementary Education from Messiah College, with a minor in Art. She taught 1st & 2nd grade for two years before she started teaching in the arts. She hopes to continue teaching art and drama when she moves to Washington, D.C. this summer. Hannah performed in Fiddler on the Roof as Tzeitel in 2007 and in Guys & Dolls as Sarah Brown in 2006 at her Christian high school in NY. She also took ballet and pointe and performed in many musical-like dance recitals with her Christian dance studio.

  • Shane Baranek

    Assistant Director

    Shane Baranek is delighted to be the assistant director of Fiddler on the Roof. He is the K-12 Physical Education teacher and high school Speech teacher at WCA. He received his Bachelors degree in Physical Education from Concordia University Ann Arbor with a minor in Theatre with Speech emphasis.   He hopes to continue to be involved in the Drama program here at WCA. Shane was involved with the Dexter High School drama club from 1989 to 1992.  During his time he played the role of Ham in Two By Two, the voice of Audrey 2 in Little Shop of Horrors, Nicely-Nicely Johnson in Guys and Dolls and the Pirate King in The Pirates from Penzance.  He was involved in the drama program at Saginaw Valley State University from 1992-1995 where he performed in Beauty & the Beast as the Beast, Lamb in The Hot House, Joe Cardin in The Children’s Hour, Bagheera the Panther in the Jungal Book, Mr. Zero in The Adding Machine and Dicken from The Secret Garden.

  • Melanie Balkany

    Orchestra Director

    Melanie Balkany is delighted to be directing the orchestra and choir of Fiddler on the Roof. She currently teaches K-12 general music and choir at Washtenaw Christian Academy. Melanie received her Bachelor of Arts in Music from Spring Arbor University in 2014. After guest teaching for three years, she earned her teaching certification from Indiana Wesleyan University. This is her first year at WCA! Melanie played clarinet in the pit orchestra for "The Music Man" in 2011 and "Bye Bye Birdie" in 2013. She is grateful for the opportunity to collaborate on this tremendous project.
