DIRECTORS NOTES

The task of doing theater under normal circumstances is challenging. Doing theater in the time of a global pandemic is even more heightened. We are fortunate to have a talented staff, and supportive community that allow us to offer our youth a safe creative platform, and the opportunity to work collaboratively to solve problems and grow. We are very proud of the cast and crew of The Woods for rising to the occasion, trouble-shooting under pressure, and engaging in an endeavor that is both fun and educational. This show has been a gift to the student team, and we hope it is a gift to the Wayzata community.

What you will see you tonight is a show entirely created by the student team. Our group spent weeks brainstorming, workshopping to come up with tonight's event. We went from telling personal ghost stories, to discussing what makes a show haunting, to building the scenarios and characters that you will see you tonight. It was no small task to conceive, write, and stage a site-specific, interactive play. Their unique ideas and team spirit have been admirable.
