Kausi Subramaniam - Director and Instructor of Bharatanatyam

Kausi Subramaniam trained under Guru Revathi Satyu of Dallas, TX and later under Guru Prasanna Kasthuri of Saint Louis, MO. She has over 25 years of teaching experience and her students excel in adjudicated events, auditions, and dance competitions. Her choreography and students’ performances receive rave reviews from knowledgeable critics in the United States and India. Kausi has served as the President of the San Antonio Dance Umbrella and as dance co-chair for Luminaria for four years. Her collaboration with Attic Rep to produce ‘From the Mahabharata’ was a huge success with seven out of eight ‘sold out’ shows. Kausi has been inducted to the San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame and was one of the San Antonio Business Journal’s ’40 Under 40 Rising Stars’ in 2008. She is an alumna of the prestigious Leadership San Antonio leadership program sponsored by the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. She played an instrumental role in pursuing and developing a Sister City in India and serves as President of Anuja SA, the organization that manages the Sister City Relationship between San Antonio and Chennai, India. Kausi was recently appointed to the City of San Antonio's Paid Sick Leave Commission by Mayor Ron Nirenberg. Kausi has a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

 

 

Ramya Karthic - Director and Instructor of Carnatic Music

Ramya Karthic started learning Carnatic vocal music from her mother at a very early age. She later trained under Smt. Sita Narayanan of Chennia, India. She also received advanced training from eminent guru Smt. R Vedavalli. Ramya was a featured artist on All India Radio throughout the 1990s. She has been teaching Carnatic vocal music to children and adults for more than 25 years. Her style of teaching ensures that children and adult students receive a comprehensive and thorough education on the theory and history of Carnatic Music in addition to learning to sing. Ramya also holds a Master’s Degree in Zoology.
