Cristina Pla-Guzman

Cristina Pla-Guzman is a teaching artist, director, actress, theatre critic, & writer. She was honored as a national 2016 Kennedy Center Stephen Sondheim Inspirational Teacher and is also a 2019 fellow of the O’Neill Theatre Center’s National Critics Institute. She's proud to be in Theatre Communications Group’s Rising Leaders of Color cohort 4 for Theatre Journalism. Pla has been working in theatre for 17 years. This is her 4th year at MCDS. She has her Masters in Special Education, a Bachelor in Fine Arts, & graduated Magna cum Laude in Acting from FIU. Pla received the Nova Southeastern University’s Cervantes Educator Award & an Award for Outstanding Service in Theatre from FIU. Pla was also awarded the 2016 Top-Notch teacher by the national Varsity Brands' School Spirit Awards & a Dedication & Achievement award by the Miami Lakes Town Council. She would like to thank her family, especially her wonderful husband, Rolando, & her daughters, Bella & Madison.
