Caryn Ott Hillman

Director & Choreographer

Caryn joined the Music Theater Workshop team in the summer of 2011. During the school year, she teaches for Chicago Opera Theater at After School Matters and Opera for All. At the Lycèe Français of Chicago, Caryn teaches History of Musical Theater and directs and choreographs their musicals. When she’s not in the classroom, Caryn loves flying in aerial class at Actors Gymnasium.
Christopher Richard

Music Director

Christopher has been music director for the Youth Workshops since 2007. His ability to make learning exciting has led to working with teens in both the classical and musical theater genres. He has held positions with the Merit School of Music, Chicago Opera Theater, and currently teaches at Oak Park and River Forest High Schools and at the Chicago High School for the Performing Arts (ChiArts).
Anya Plotkin

Workshop Manager/Stage Manager

Anya is a founding member of the Music Theater Works Summer Workshop. Since graduating from Northwestern University, she has called dozens of productions here, including CAMELOT, THE MUSIC MAN, SOUTH PACIFIC, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, and RAGTIME. She has stage managed for many companies, which locally include Chicago Opera Theater, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and Lyric Opera of Chicago.
Kristin Doty

Workshop Counselor

Kristin Doty is a senior at Southern Illinois University Carbondale pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre. Her favorite roles include Morticia in SIU’s THE ADDAMS FAMILY, Charlotte in SIU’s A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, and The Witch in INTO THE WOODS. Professional credits include Little Sally in URINETOWN at Red Barn Summer Theatre and Gabriella in BOEING BOEING at Pioneer Playhouse.
James VanDerBosch

Workshop Counselor

As James’s first summer with Music Theater Works, he couldn’t be more thrilled to work with these kids. His recent experience includes working at Metropolis SoPA on productions such as TANGLED, ANNIE, and several others. When James isn't behind the scenes he is often looking to be on stage. Some of his previous rolls include Link in HAIRSPRAY, Anthony in SWEENEY TODD, and Aladdin in ALADDIN.
