Cendrillon - December 13 - December 15, 2019

North Broward Preparatory School

 WELCOME

Dan Bates, Director

I’m thrilled to welcome you to North Broward Preparatory School’s opera production of Massanet’s Cendrillon. I am so proud of all the students involved, who have worked so very hard to bring the production to life. I am continuously impressed and proud of our students for taking on such difficult music without batting an eye.

Cinderella is one of the classic fairy tales that everyone knows, whether it be from Disney’s magical cartoon, the Grimm brothers’ dark tale or, live-action movie version reimaginings. Massanet takes his version of the story from the French author Charles Perrault, but retains the themes that we know and love; true love that supersedes wealth and rank, a fairy godmother who magically dresses our heroine, and the famous glass slipper left behind for our love-struck Prince.

In true operatic fashion, this production is the culmiation of many teams of teachers and students from our school who have made this gorgeous production possible.

I hope the magic or our production provides the perfect background for our students to tell this age-old story through Massanet's exquisite music.

Thanks!
Dan
