       Director’s Note

 

     Welcome to Oyster Bay High School’s Production of Chicago. This musical sensation took the theater world by storm and has enthralled audiences for decades with its electrifying performances and captivating storyline. Set in the roaring 1920s, this Tony Award-winning production takes us on a journey through the dark underbelly of the city. Through its catchy songs, dazzling dance routines, and intriguing characters, Chicago tells the tale of two rival vaudeville performers, Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart, who find themselves entangled in a web of fame, crime, and the pursuit of justice. Through the power of music and dance, Chicago brings to life the glitz and glamor of the Jazz Age while exploring themes of corruption, celebrity, and the pursuit of the American Dream. Step into the world of Chicago and prepare to be mesmerized by its unforgettable performances and timeless storytelling.

     A special thank you to Dr. Ianni, Ms. Raynor, Ms. Gallegos, Mr. Nyberg and the Board of Education for providing this opportunity to the students. This program allows the students a place to learn about the complexity of theater and the experience it can bring to an audience. A very special thank you to Ms. Argaman, Mr. Locastro, Mr. Pardue, Mr. Nelson, and Ms. Smith for all of their support to ensure the success of this program!  Thank you Mr. Rispoli and the custodial staff for all of their assistance. To the production team, Miss. Kemp, Mr. Sisia, Dr. Moon,  Mr. Dollin, Ms. Randazzo, Mr. Chocianowski, Mr. Greene and Ms. Giglio Pac, you are such an incredible group of talented and passionate artists each in your own field. I am very grateful to have had you by my side during this program. Last but never least, I would like to thank all of the students involved in this production. Your enthusiasm and love for what each of you brings to the stage is inspiring. To the seniors, it will not be easy to see you graduate and move on from our stage at Oyster Bay High School. You have been an integral part of this program for a very long time. Thank you for being role models for the younger members of the production. I hope you know that you will always be a part of our theater family.
