SOUTHERN NEW JERSEY CAPPIES
Pennsauken Stages is a proud member of the Southern New Jersey Cappies - the Critics and Awards Program for high school theatre and journalism. This program seeks to celebrate theatre and honor the work of young performers and crew. Three of our students and two faculty were trained as critics and mentors this year, attending participating local schools shows.
Critic teams from the Cappies attend shows, with pre-show, intermission, and post-show sessions to discuss student designed and developed elements of the show. Following each performance, award nominations occur and each student on the team critiques the show with a review article. Each article is evaluated by critic mentors, with the top three reviews sent to local media.
At the conclusion of show season and critic voting, an awards gala will be held including performances, award ceremony, and a celebration of musical theatre in south Jersey.
