Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical JR. - January 17

Rugby Middle School

 End Notes

Dear Audience,

Welcome to our production of Matilda The Musical Jr.! Tonight, we invite you into a world of imagination, courage, and resilience—a world brought to life by the incredible young performers you’ll see on this stage.

This production holds a special place in my heart, as it comes during a time of rebuilding and rediscovery for so many of us. After Hurricane Helene, we’ve faced challenges that tested our strength and resolve. Yet, in the midst of it all, this show has been a reminder of the power of community, creativity, and perseverance. The story of Matilda—a little girl with extraordinary wit and determination—resonates deeply with all of us who have faced adversity and emerged stronger.

Working on this show has been a labor of love, and I have been continually inspired by our cast and crew. These young performers have poured their hearts into every moment, supporting and uplifting one another in ways that remind us of the best humanity has to offer. Their energy, kindness, and dedication have left an indelible mark on all of us adults lucky enough to guide them.

Theatre has a unique way of bringing people together, and this production has been no exception. In these rehearsals, we’ve laughed, learned, and grown—not just as actors and directors but as a family. My hope is that tonight, as you watch this story unfold, you’ll feel the same joy and hope that we have experienced throughout this journey.

Thank you for joining us and for supporting the arts in our community. Your presence here is a testament to the resilience and spirit that can light up even the darkest of times. So, sit back, enjoy the show, and remember: sometimes, even the tiniest voices can make the biggest impact.

Warm regards,

Heather FenderDirector
