A Note from the Director –
Dear Family, Friends, and Audience Members,
First off thank you so much for being here and supporting local live theater! I am overwhelmed by the unquestionable strength and character of our community throughout this past year and especially our students. Like many organizations we are encouraged by the outpouring of support and love we have received. The messages of gratitude, acts of generosity and words of encouragement are powerful affirmations to our team of dedicated teachers who are working each day to maintain our local arts community.
So much has changed in a short period of time – our Hairspray cast has survived an unprecedented shut down and seen the world around us, our neighborhoods, gathering spaces, the places we work and call home change forever in the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Life in the midst of COVID-19 has sparked fear, frustration and anxiety in all of us and in this process many of our cast members from last year have been unable to join us this weekend. They are missed and loved and always remembered.
I couldn’t be prouder of this small cast of kids who have banded together to bring this show to the stage. No matter the obstacle they have flourished and maintained a positive, enthusiastic spirit throughout these trials.
As an organization, we are hopeful that sometime during the coming weeks and months, we will look at this difficult time in the “rearview mirror.” When we do, it will be with immense pride in how we individually and collectively, responded.
It is my deepest belief that the arts offer the much-needed outlet of joy and emotional expression especially for students who are experiencing high amounts of isolation, depression and hopelessness in the midst of this changing world. As an organization we are dedicated to continuing to provide a quality arts program for students throughout our community.
Thank you, Miss Shelby and Mr. Weston for your positivity and encouraging spirits. Thank you to my Hairspray Cast you all are amazing! And Thank you to all our audience members and arts supporters! When it comes to Music, Theater, and Dance just remember ….You Can’t Stop the Beat!
Sincerely,
